Balcombe and Ardingly Reservoir

Laura and I went for a hike from Balcombe around Ardingly Reservoir up to the village of Ardingly and back.  I found the guide to the walk supplied by the Saturday Walks Club on the walkingclub.org.uk website.  The day’s weather was not particularly good for photography, misty and dim, but the walk still gave great views of the Ouse Valley Viaduct from a distance, then closer and underneath.

We did the winter version of the walk which was fatalistically well described and we only went wrong once.

About two hours into the walk we passed underneath the viaduct, the pictures below were taken standing on the brickwork.

The walk brings you across the south end of the reservoir, into Ardingly (for the pub) and then across the north end back to Balcombe.
